Abstract

The problem in this study is the low cognitive learning outcomes in social studies class V student at SD Negeri 09 Sitiung where students are only listeners to what is conveyed by the teacher while students do not focus on participating in learning activities. Based on this, the formulation of the problem in this study is the application of the cooperative learning model of the numbered-heads together type in social studies learning to improve student learning outcomes in fifth grade student at SDN 09 Sitiung. The population in this study were all fifth grede students at SDN 09 Sitiung with a total 12 students. Based on the posttest result, the average student obtained was 87. The highest score obtained by students was 96, and the lowest score was 60. From the posttest result, the number of students who complete as many as 11 people and students who did not complete as many as 1 person. Based on the pretest and posttest data obtained, there are differences in the average pretest and posttest score. The average pretest score obtained was 68 while the posttest average score obtained by students was 88,3. From the explanation above, it is clear thet difference in the scores obtained by students before and after being give treatment.
